Here we are……. 3 weeks in to a program and learning slowly, as it should be, the habits that need to be developed in order to reach your goal. Where certainly not perfect there is some light at the end of the tunnel. You’re able to see more clearly now than in the past. Having a place to seek information from one source instead of the bowels of the internet is comforting 10x over. We’ve navigated through kids schedules, late nights, nutrition exchanges, changed a few weekends from having 6 drinks and some progress is coming.

BAM! A 4 day long work trip.

-How am I going to workout?

-How do I stay on plan with lunch & dinner?

-It’s gonna be later nights?

-My colleagues and boss expect me to drink.

All that ⬆️ can be navigated fairly easily. Its done every single day by people who have goals or simply promises to keep to themselves. There is zero reason you can’t continue your program and progress in a situation like this one.

  1. Stick to your regular breakfast as much as possible. Starting off your nutrition on a familiar note when other surrounding elements aren’t so familiar is uber important. Use Instacart or other grocery delivery services to your room or simply take 4-5 days with you.

2. Research the fitness facilities. You know what resort or area you’re staying in advance. I do this for clients every week. It’s simple to search images on all facilities on the internet. That will give you an idea what equipment is available, what time the facilities open or close, and sets the tone for you to have success while on the road.

3. Assuming lunch is provided review and use your knowledge you’ve gained from your coach or your progress so far in your programming. If Panera or another cafe is catering lunch follow simple guidelines such as whole foods over non-nutritious items like chips or white bread. Be aware of your spreads(mayo, ranch, or other creamy condiments). They can add hundreds of calories to your meal. And don’t just always op for a salad. Influence protein over everything.

4. Become friends with like-minded individuals. I guarantee you there is somebody who is also concerned about their health at your business meeting. They will understand you are trying to better your life and not just fall into the same cycle. They are also frustrated and want to stop with being on point with goals for four days or even a couple weeks and then having a work event to do nothing but fall off and restart again when you return. You guys can help each other!

5. Real leaders of a company like people who can take initiative and make better decisions. If you are the one at the dinner table that skips a drink, you will be respected. Lets the leaders of the company, and the other employees know the purpose of that meeting is more important than a drink, and the self improvement is more important than skipping a workout In the morning.

Zero excuse not to stay on your plan while you are traveling for business! Tens of thousands of people do this weekly.
